Whether you’ve made your way here after seeing a jar of Skin Defender, or you just stumbled upon this little corner of the internet by accident…I’m glad you’re here. And if you’ll hang around for a few minutes, I’ve got a story about a little boy, a brave mama and a really big God.

I started making a few tallow based skincare products in 2023 partly because I have ADHD and love a good project, but also because I have a knack for thinking “I could make that!” after spending $$$$$ from an out of town boutique that sold my favorite tallow skincare. While the product was everything I ever wanted, my budget just doesn’t always align with my shopping list. So, I bought some tallow and started whipping up a few batches. First for myself, then for a friend who wanted to use it for her growing baby bump during pregnancy.

A few months went by and I received a text from my friend Jasmine, asking if I would be willing to make an unscented tallow with zinc mixture for her son Lux. You see, Lux Michael had the most severe form of Eczema that countless medical professionals had ever seen. His skin condition was so severe, that even touching certain items of clothing would cause a flare. His parents spent countless hours researching how to help him, driving to various doctors seeking answers, and grieving for their little boy who was living each day and night in pain. And so, our first batch of “Skin Defender” was born! Providing batches of tallow to Lux allowed me the privilege of a front row seat into their world - and I can’t stop sharing about it!

In an instagram post about their journey, Lux’s mom says:

"By 6 months old, Lux had developed a staph infection & oozing from multiple parts of his body. Instagram’s character limit won’t let me fully describe to you how it felt to not be able to rescue our son from the extreme discomfort he felt in his own skin often causing itching so persistent that it left his body bleeding and raw. Or the nights that I wept while feeding him because his little hands weren’t allowed to touch mine. His body needing to remain covered at all times, his hands held captive for his own safety while we searched for a solution.

The journey was long, painful and filled with so many lessons along the way. And it’s because of that journey that we’ve started this venture.
Today, Lux is 20 months old & his skin remains 98% clear.
But we know so many other families out there who are sitting in the valley of watching their children suffer greatly. And for them, we’ll continue to share our story.”

Let me be clear, Skin Defender did not heal Lux. Rather, it was just one of the many helpful tools his family used along their journey.
